Proactive > Reactive

Being proactive is a way to take action on the front end, rather than reacting after the behavior has happened.

In ABA, proactive strategies can prevent challenging behaviors and create opportunities to teach new skills that will reduce the probability of challenging behaviors.

This can also reduce the triggers, frustrations, and dysregulation that accompany challenging behaviors; while lessening the need for additional response prompts, error correction, and/or crisis procedures
